Masjid asks to divert Durga idol immersion

GUWAHATI: What has kick started a controversy, Kumarpara Muslim Jamat, a local Masjid in busy locality in Guwahati has requested the Deputy Commissioner not to allow immersion procession of idol of deity Durga to pass through Frakrudin Ali road as this causes difficulty to those offering Namaz. The immersion procession of the idol of Goddess will take place on October 22-23. Secretary of Kumarpara Muslim Jamat committee, Abdul Matlib in a letter to DC stated, "I would like to inform you that from the past experience it appears that the people coming to Kumarpara Masjid faces trouble in offering their Namaz if immersion procession passes through the Frakrudin Ali road."
