Maratha protestors call for state bandh and place a number of demands including CM resignation

The Maratha agitators have called for the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis owning moral responsibility following the death of Kakasaheb Shinde.

Maratha agitators demand the Chief Minister and other police officials should be booked under culpable homicide, a compensation of Rs 50 lakh should be given to Shinde’s family.

The death of a Maratha protestor who drowned after jumping in to the Godavari river in Aurangabad has led to a call for Maharashtra Bandh on Tuesday. In a meeting on Monday evening top Maratha community leaders called for a Maharashtra bandh on Tuesday.

The Maratha agitators have called for the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis owning moral responsibility following the death of Kakasaheb Shinde and have placed six other demands, declaring Shinde a martyr. The Chief Minister and other police officials should be booked under culpable homicide, a compensation of Rs 50 lakh should be given to Shinde’s family. The other demands include Shinde’s brother should be given a government job. The state should stop the recruitment of 72,000 employees in the state government till the Maratha reservation issue is decided. The Maratha protestors have said that they would not collect his body till the demands were met.
