MALKANGIRI: Nine persons were abducted by Maoists from the Mahupadar area of the district, police said today.

A group of around 50 armed Maoists raided the remote village on Wednesday night and abducted seven persons from their houses, a police official said.

In a repeat strike last night, the ultras again went to the village and carried away two persons with them.

Efforts are on to trace the kidnapped villagers, he said.
