Maoist killed in encounter with rival outfit

MEDININAGAR: A Maoist cadre was killed in a gun battle with rival outfit Jharkhand Liberation Tiger (JLT) near village Pagar under Panki Police station in naxal-affected Palamu district, the police said today.

Preliminary investigation revealed that JLT activists ambushed on the Maoists passing through the area late last night, Superintendent of Police Anup T Mathew said.

An encounter ensued as both sides started a one-hour long gun battle in which one Maoist was killed, he said.

A body in black uniform which was yet to be identified, and leaflets were recovered from the sport this morning, the SP said.
