Maoist camp destroyed in Odisha
KORAPUT, ODISHA: A Maoist camp was destroyed and some materials were seized by security personnel following an exchange of fire with the rebels in a forest in this district, police officials said today.

Acting on a tip off, a joint team of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) led by Koraput SP Charan Singh Meena busted the Maoist camp yesterday at Jhodiaguda forest, they said.

Some injuries in the rebels were suspected as a gun-battle ensued between the security men and the Maoists.

"There were around 12 naxals at the camp. Spotting our men, the Maoists started firing to which we retaliated. The exchange of fire continued for 25 minutes," the SP said.

While coming across the site, police spotted blood stains which suggests that some Maoists had been injured.

"We have recovered various items, including utensils, medicines, Maoist literature from the camp," he said.
