Manohar Parrikar not diagnosed with cancer: Lilavati issues official statement

Manohar Parrikar was rushed to the Mumbai hospital on Thursday and was said to be suffering from food poisoning.

The Lilavati Hospital, on Sunday, released a statement negating all reports of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Parrikar was rushed to the Mumbai hospital on Thursday and was said to be suffering from food poisoning. However, several media reports surfaced over the weekend alleging the 62-year-old CM has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer and has been undergoing treatment for the same.




A formal statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said that Parrikar was in Mumbai for a "routine check-up".

"Chief Minister will be unavailable for next two days, as he has to undergo a routine check-up in Mumbai," the statement said.

A CMO functionary said that Parrikar was examined at the state government-run Goa Medical College near here late on Wednesday night after complaining of stomach pain.

"He was examined at the Goa Medical College last night, where doctors established the cause of his illness as food poisoning. He was rushed to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai today (Thursday) for further examination," the official told reporters here
