Manish Sisodia's arrest and failure to secure bail in Delhi excise policy case: Chronology of events

Following his arrest on February 27 in the Delhi excise policy case and his subsequent failure to secure bail from the Supreme Court, AAP bigshot Manish Sisodia has resigned as Delhi's deputy chief minister.

Here follows a chronology of events leading up to the latest developments in the Delhi excise policy case.

November 17, 2021: Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 is implemented.


July 31, 2022: Delhi government scraps the policy after it comes under the scanner.

August 17: CBI registers case in connection with alleged irregularities in the policy against 15 accused. The accused include Sisodia.

August 19: CBI conducts raid at Sisodia's residence in Delhi.

August 22: A separate money laundering case is registered by ED, arising out of the CBI FIR.

October 17: Sisodia quizzed by CBI for around eight hours.

November 25: CBI files charge sheet against seven accused in the case.

December 15: Court takes cognisance of CBI charge sheet.

February 18, 2023: Sisodia is summoned by CBI.

February 26: CBI arrests Sisodia following several hours of questioning.

February 27: Sisodia is sent by special CBI court to five-day CBI custody for questioning.

February 28: Sisodia moves the apex court against his arrest, seeks bail. SC refuses to hear Sisodia's plea, following which he resigns as Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
