Manipur's top police officer shoots self inside office chambers, rushed to hospital

GUWAHATI: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Manipur, Arvind Kumar allegedly shot himself, with his service revolver, Saturday afternoon in his office chamber, inside the 1st Manipur Battalion campus, Imphal.

Kumar is 1992 batch Bihar cadre officer. A senior official, who did not want to be named, told ET, “He was taken to a private hospital and his condition is critical. We do not know why he took this step.”

He added, “the doctors attending him said he was responding to treatment. He is likely to be sent to New Delhi for further treatment.”


Kumar had recently applied for repatriation to his parent cadre.
