Manipur High Court declares election of Outer Manipur seat null and void

The High court of Manipur has declared the election of the present MP (Member of Parliament) of Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency null and void. BJP candidate Houlim Shokhopao Mate of the BJP is the new MP (Outer).

The Court also declared that the second position holder in the Lok Sabha Election, 2019 has been elected as MP.

The court ordered, "In the result, the Election Petition is allowed by declaring the election of the Respondent No. 1 as

Member of Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency to the 17th Lok Sabha, 2019 as null and void; this Court declared that the Petitioner is duly elected as a member of Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency; both the parties are directed to bear their own cost.

In 2019 MP Lorho S. Pfoze got 3,63,527 votes and Haulim Shokopao Mate got 2,89,745 votes.Haulim moved court claiming defect in the affidavit. Pfoze is from National People's Party (NPP).

The bench of Justice M.V. Muralidaran declared Haulim Shokopao Mate is duly elected as the MP.
