Manipur crisis may end as NPP rebel netas fly down to meet Amit Shah in Delhi

GUWAHATI: An indication that the political crisis in Manipur may be resolved came on Wednesday when the convenor of North East Democratic Alliance, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said National People’s Party leaders had met Union Home minister Amit Shah and that both the BJP and NPP resolved to work for the development of the state.

Himanta tweeted, “A NPP delegation led by @SangmaConrad and Dy Chief Minister of Manipur Sri Y Joy Kumar Singh met Honble Home minister Sri @AmitShah ji today in New Delhi. Both @BJP4India and NPP will continue to work together for the development of Manipur.”

In the past couple of days there have been intensive parleys with four NPP MLAs who left the BJP-led coalition government. Yumnam Joykumar, Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar, Letpao Haokip and N Kayisii had resigned from the government and extended support to the Congress-led front.


NPP president Cornad Sangma and Sarma had a series of discussions with NPP MLAs. However, as a stalemate persisted, NPP leaders held a discussion with Shah in Delhi.
