Manik sarkar seeks quarter and vehicle for himself

Manik Sarkar vacated his government quarter after his party sufferered humiliating defeat in recently held assembly polls.
GUWAHATI: Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar who is believed to be poorest chief minister has sought a ‘befitting residential quarter’ and a vehicle for himself.

Vacating his quater he moved to one room apartment cum guest house attached to the CPI (M)’s state office.


In a letter to secretary of Tripura legislative assembly, Manik stated, "I would like to draw your attention to the fact that I am in need of a befitting residential quarter since I have not permanent residence."

Sarkar, in his letter, also pointed out that three new quarters are being constructed adjacent to Shishubihar Higher Secondary School in Agartala. “One of those quarters is located just adjacent to the old Officers quarter lane which is behind the Shishubihar Higher Secondary School. I think that quarter will be suitable for me,” said Sarkar in his letter.

Sarkar was offered an ambassador car however he refused to accept the same citing back pain as the reason.
