Mangalore International Airport put on alert
MANGALORE: The Mangalore International Airport at Bajpe near here has been put on alert as part of stepped up security across airports in the country after the terror attack on Karachi airport in Pakistan. The Central Industrial Security Force at the airport has formed a team to prevent and counter any attack, police said.

Following the Intelligence Bureau alert, security has been tightened at the airport and surrounding areas with the deployment of 60 additional CISF personnel. A bomb detection team with four specially trained sniffer dogs is on the vigil. A separate team has been deployed at the entrance of the airport to check passengers and visitors.

Thirty-eight people, including 10 militants, were killed in last week's Karachi terror attack in which the Taliban gunmen had besieged the airport armed with rocket launchers and suicide vests.
