Maneka Gandhi turns ministry of women and child development spick & span, weeds out unused furniture
The ministry officials worked over the weekend to weed out about 1,800 files/documents, and about 1,350 kg of files and waste paper which was handed over for suitable disposal.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to all ministries to keep the offices spick and span has started having its impact, with the ministry of women and child development taking the lead by “weeding out” unused furniture and piles of papers from its office in the national capital.
In a press statement, the WCD Ministry, headed by environmentalist-politician Maneka Gandhi, said it has “reclaimed significant office space by weeding out dead stock furniture and clearing unwanted files and papers”.
The ministry officials worked over the weekend to weed out about 1,800 files/documents, and about 1,350 kg of files and waste paper which was handed over for suitable disposal.
ET had first reported that for Modi, cleanliness is one of the top priorities along with efficiency, effectiveness and hard work. In a round of the PMO, Modi had pointed out that there are unused cups lying in rooms in South Block.
