Mandira Bedi’s hubby quizzed for sparking sealink rumour

MUMBAI: The cyber cell of the Mumbai police on Saturday questioned Raj Kaushal, husband of actor and sports anchor Mandira Bedi, for spreading rumours about the collapse of three cables of the Bandra-Worli sealink a few days ago.

The rumour spread quickly throughout the city and created panic among motorists using the sealink.

Sources said Kaushal was called to the cyber cell office and was questioned on the tweets found uploaded on his twitter account. Kaushal is reported to have told the police that it was just a prank meant for a few friends.

Last Wednesday, rumours spread across the city through SMSes, warning people to avoid the sealink. Within half an hour, the media, too, picked it up. Hindustan Construction Corporation, which constructed the 4.7 km bridge, filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell. Many anxious motorists avoided the road and called up various authorities to confirm the incident.
