Mandakranta Sen returns Sahitya Akademi Award

KOLKATA: Noted poet Mandakranta Sen today returned Sahitya Akademi award. Sen is one of the youngest receiver of the award. She was conferred with the 'young writers' award in 2004.

Speaking to the media, she said, "In a country when a man is being killed for eating beef, we feel that we should protest. That is why, I decided to return Sahitya Akademi award."

Sen is the first such author from West Bengal to return the award.
