Man claims he planted crude bomb in Mangaluru Airport, surrenders
The curious case of a crude bomb at the Mangalore International Airport two days ago seemed to have ended on Wednesday with possible suspect Aditya Rao (35) surrendering before the Bengaluru police on Wednesday.

Rao, a resident of Manipal in Udupi and a mechanical engineer with an MBA, walked into the DGP’s office and surrendered. The police had found a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) in an unattended bag at the Mangalore International Airport premises on Monday. The bomb detection and disposal squad had successfully defused the explosive in an exercise that lasted several hours. Mangaluru police had released the CCTV footage of a man suspected to have planted the bomb.
Even as the investigation was under progress, Rao appeared before the police and admitted to have committed the act. According to police, Rao was previously jailed after he made a series of hoax calls to the Kempegowda International Airport and Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station in Bengaluru last year. He was released on bail recently.
