Mamata slams previous Left Front government

Mamata Banerjee slammed the previous Left Front government for creating parallel organisations in the state's education system 'only for political benefit'.

KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday slammed the previous Left Front government for creating parallel organisations in the state's education system 'only for political benefit'.

"This has made the system highly complicated," she said and added that her government would bring the parallel organisations under one umbrella to straighten the education system.

"But it will be a tough job and will require time to regularise the system," she told reporters at the secretariat.

She congratulated the successful candidates of the Higher Secondary examination of West Bengal Board.

The state education department, she said, had been directed to ensure that the successful candidates did not face difficulty in getting admission in their own district colleges.

Banerjee said she would invite the first ten rank holders of both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations to felicitate them at Writers' Buildings on Saturday next.
