Mamata sees red over Cong apathy to seat-sharing deal
Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed her displeasure at the way the Congress high command handled the seat-sharing deal with her party in West Bengal for the May 30 civic polls in the state.
“No one should say that the central government is a Congress government. It is a coalition government and we are there with our 19 MPs. Congress is the largest partner of the government. We will be there in the government as long as we will find our stay honourable,” Ms Banerjee said.
Ms Banerjee said the collapse of her electoral alliance with Congress in West Bengal will not have any impact on her relationship with the UPA government at the Centre. Even though Didi did not use any bad word against the Congress high command, she made it clear that she was unhappy with the high command.
“Congress is a big national party. We are a Bengal-based regional party, but it still needs our support in Delhi,” She said. “But, in West Bengal, we were told that we won’t be given any seat in Malda, Murshidabad and many other places. Is it a sign of striking an alliance,” she asked.
