Mamata calls for statewide roadblock, dares Buddha to disrupt it

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has called a statewide two-hour roadblock on Friday to protest the decision.

SINGUR: Dubbing the Chief Minister's rejection of her demand to return 400 acres to Singur farmers "an act of betrayal" by the state government, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has called a statewide two-hour roadblock on Friday to protest the decision.

"We are patient although the government has betrayed us once again," Banerjee said. "Will you bulldoze our agitation? In that event, we will show (you) how to react."

Today was the third day of the indefinite sit-in demonstration that she and her party activists are holding here. Banerjee said her party will observe a two-hour roadblock from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm on Friday to protest the government's 'treacherous' move.

"We have been patient for long but the state government has acted like a traitor in its turn," she said.

Admitting that the public was facing hardship due to the sit-in demonstration, she said, "I understand but our movement must be carried on also in the interest of the people."
