Mamata calls for 'Parivartan', women empowerment in Goa

During her visit to Goa, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday called for 'parivartan' in the state. She assured that Trinamool Congress has come to Goa to bring "a positive change" with the motto of youth and women's empowerment. The same concept had worked in the recent Bengal assembly polls and a huge number of women had voted for Banerjee.

"I am not here to capture the state or become the chief minister of Goa. I am here to bring a positive change," Banerjee said, adding, if voted to power, the party will set up a mechanism for the local leaders to work with transparency.

"Eradicating unemployment, reviving the fishing industry and stopping increasing crime against women in Goa are necessary. We will empower the women in the state, the way we did in Bengal with several social schemes for education, empowerment and other areas. We have been working towards women's empowerment and 41% women in Trinamool are elected in Parliament. We will develop a similar model in Goa," she said.
