KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, who is recovering at a nursing home here after her 25-day hunger strike against land acquisition at Singur, was in a stable condition on Wednesday.

Dr Sudarshan Ghosh Dastidar, who is heading a medical team monitoring Banerjee's health, said she had mild fever last evening, but was normal today.

"We have sent her blood sample for investigation, but there is nothing to worry," he said adding that minor infections do occur after such long fasts which can be treated effectively.

"She is improving day by day," Ghosh Dastidar said.

Banerjee had withdrawn her indefinite fast against acquisition of farm land at Singur for the Tata Motors small car project on December 28 after continuing the hunger strike for 25 days.

Banerjee was admitted to a private nursing home immediately after that as her health had deteriorated sharply.
