KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to the Prime Minister on the problems faced by around four lakh students from the state, belonging to the minority community, registered with the National Scholarship Portal.

Banerjee suggested that the scholarship funds be given through Direct Benefit Transfer instead of sending cheques through the National Scholarship Portal.

She also pointed out in her letter that the she had written to the Centre earlier on this issue. Trinamool MPs from Bengal had also raised the plight of the students with the Union Minister of Minority Affairs, but nothing has been done yet.

Trinamool has again given a Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha to highlight the issue.
