Mamata Banerjee will be busy inaugurating Durga Pujas across the city
KOLKATA: Keeping aside her daily political and administrative work, chief minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to devote time for inaugurating Durga Pujas across the city throughout the coming week. On Wednesday, she has inaugurated a Puja which is being organised by her MLA Sujit Bose for long.

From Thursday, the chief minister will be visiting several key pandals to inaugurate pujas which are being organised by her key ministers like Subrata Mukherjee, Partha Chatterjee, Arup Biswas and Firhad Hakim.

Letters inviting the chief minister to inaugurate Durga Pujas have started pouring in her office since last month. One of chief minister's close associates and a senior minister told ET on Wednesday that almost all the key puja organisers in Kolkata wanted the chief minister to inaugurate their pujas. "In fact, this time, the chief minister is finding it really difficult to please all the organisers in the city by inaugurating their pujas as she doesn't have much time. I have been told by one of her officers that she has received invitation from at least 400 puja committees which wanted her to open their pujas," said Subrata Mukherjee, Bengal's panchayet minister. In fact, the chief minister will inaugurate Mukherjee's "Ekdalia Evergreen" puja on Thursday.
