Mamata Banerjee visits Midnpaore hospital three days after tent collapse incident

Three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the injured persons at Midnapore medical college and hospital following the incident of tent collapse at PM's meeting venue on July 16 at Midnapore, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced Rs 1 lakh compensation for three of the injured persons undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Banerjee who is in West Midnapore today to attend the convocation at IIT, Kharagpur went to Midnapore hospital and spoke to the injured people.

"Many people sustained injuries after the scaffolding collapsed at the meeting venue. Most of them belong to lower income group. They told me that they were not getting promised support. Rs 1 lakh would be given to each of three such injured victims from the chief minister's relief fund tomorrow. If anybody needs help, they can also contact the administration," said Banerjee after visiting the hospital.


Banerjee further added that she had already directed the health secretary and the hospital authorities to take all necessary actions to ensure that the victims get all facilities and treatment.
