Mamata Banerjee visits Kamakhya temple in Guwahati

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee visited the Shaktipeeth of Kamakhya temple in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The TMC chief was received by Rajya Sabha MP from Assam and member of the party Sushmita Dev.

The TMC MP wrote on Twitter, “I welcome my leader @MamataOfficial Honble Chief Minister of West Bengal & Chairperson @AITCofficial to Assam. She is here to offer her prayers to Maa Kamakhya & seek her blessings' '.



TMC has gained foothold in a couple of North eastern states as it has set up an organisational base in Tripura and contested recently held civic bodies polls besides 12 Congress MLAs from Meghalaya led by former Chief minister Mukul Sangma switched over to TMC.

After TMC’s retaining power in West Bengal in assembly polls early this year, the party has announced that it will fan out nationally. TMC’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will visit Tripura on January 2.

Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I and West Bengal chief minister had a telephonic conversation, she told me that she is visiting Kamakhya.”
