Mamata Banerjee to skip meet with MLAs, ministers before monsoon session
KOLKATA: Mamata Banerjee is so overconfident about her organisational skills, that she is unlikely to hold any meeting with her legislatures and ministers before monsoon session of the state Assembly beginning May 15. Instead of meeting her MLAs and ministers, she will be busy on that day to address students and youths at a function here.

In the past four years, the chief minister used to hold meetings with her party's legislative team before every session of the state assembly. She used to give her ministers and MLAs some important tip-off regarding facing the Opposition inside the House. But this time, the chief minister is going to skip this meeting. She will be there in the Assembly on May 15 when the governor will open the monsoon session. The first day of the session will be adjourned after obituary references. Trinamool Congress insiders said that the chief minister did not have any plan to brief the MLAs and ministers this time be fore the monsoon session.

Mamata is overconfident about her organisational skills. Massive victory of Trinamool Congress in last month's civic elections has undoubtedly helped Mamata to go for larger campaigns for next year's Assembly polls. For the first time in last four years, Mamata led campaigns of her party in the civic elections and Trinamool Congress managed to win 71 of the total 92 municipalities across the state where polls had taken place. In Kolkata Municipal Corporation ( KMC), Trinamool won 114 of the total 141 wards. Many in the party admit that the huge suc cess became possible as Mamata herself led campaigns across the state as well as in the city before civic polls.

Mamata is now certain that Saradha issue had lost it's relevance and hardly had any impact on the prospects of her party'e electoral performance. Success of her party in the civic polls has increased confidence level of Mamata and she has taken the risk of not meeting her MLAs and ministers before monsoon session beginning Friday. Informed sources in the ruling party also indicated that during the month-long session, the chief minister will keep herself busy in touring the districts instead of attending Assembly proceedings every day. “It is now more important for our leader to meet the people in every villages rather than confining herself within the four walls of the Assembly,“ said a senior Trinamool Congress leader.
