KOLKATA: Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress has finally decided against boycotting Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Though the chief minster herself will not travel to Delhi, she would send two of her deputies — party leader Mukul Roy and Finance and Industry Minister Amit Mitra — for the event on Monday evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

State Urban Development Minister Firad Hakim told reporters on Friday that Roy and Mitra will attend the function as representatives of the West Bengal government.

According to sources in the state administrative headquarters at Nabanna, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee decided to send her emissaries to the event only after the invitation letter for attending the oathtaking ceremony for the new prime minister arrived on Friday afternoon. The CPM, it is learnt, is going to boycott the function.
