Mamata Banerjee to meet Congress legislators for first time after becoming CM
KOLKATA: For the first time after becoming CM, Mamata Banerjee will meet the Congress Legislative Party in the state assembly on Friday. She will listen to the grievances of Congress MLAs, all of whom have complaints about ‘deteriorating’ law and order and attacks on some of them by ruling party activists. Congress MLAs had taken up the issue in the assembly and the CM’s office had informed them that she would meet them on Friday.

CLP leader Mohammad Sohrab told ET, "the CM has agreed to meet us on Friday. We will raise the issue of deteriorating law and order situation and attacks on Rabindranath Chatterjee, our MLA from Katwa in Burdwan, last month."

Banerjee had met the Left Front leaders last June. Left leaders, CPM in particular, had been complaining about attacks by ruling party activists and lodged their complaints with the CM. Banerjee had served tea and fish fry for the legislators and listened to their grievances. Following her meeting with Left leaders, attacks on the CPM activists had came down significantly across the state.
