Mamata Banerjee to inaugurate 273 Durga pujas across WB in 5 days
"All the puja committees across the state want chief minister to open their pujas. They want to share with her the most celebrated function in the state," TMC said.
KOLKATA: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee's residence at Kalighat is still receiving requests from different puja organisers for inaugurating their pujas. In fact, her Kalighat residence is flooded with request letters, phone calls and e-mails.
"All the puja committees across the state want chief minister to open their pujas. They want to share with her the most celebrated function in the state. We have been forced to set up a three-member committee to sort out the applications and send those to the chief minister. We have selected 273 pujas across the state which will be inaugurated by the chief minister,"" a senior Trinamool Congress leader told ET on Tuesday.
A senior state government official told ET on Tuesday that the chief minister will attend her office for a few hours during the Puja days. ""Even though all the four Puja days are government holidays, the chief minister will attend her office on these days for a few hours,"" he added.
Not only the chief minister will attend her office during Pujas, she has also instructed her ministers, MP, MLAs and all people representatives to be at their respective localities and use the puja pandals as platforms to meet the people and share their joys and sorrows.
