KOLKATA: A fire broke out at Mamata Banerjee's hotel room in Mlada on Thursday evening. The chief minister was there in the room when the incident took place. The chief minister fell sick as smoke billowing out from the air-condition machine and she was immediately shifted to another room of the same hotel. Doctors attended on her and said the chief minister fell sick due to the dense smoke in the room.

"The chief minister is safe now and she has been removed to another room of the same hotel. Fire department officials and electricians are now examining the electric wires," Chowdhury said.

Mamata has addressed three election rallies at Habibpur, Chanchal-Malatipur and Harishchandrapur in Malda district on Thursday. She was staying at the Golden Park Hotel located at Narayanpur in Old Malda. Senior Malda district police officials are holding a routine inquiry into the incident.
