RAIGANJ: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today said the state will progress if the districts develop properly.

"That is why my ministers and myself are regularly visiting the districts with officers like the DMs, SDOs, BDOs, OCs and Zilla Sabhadipatis", she told reporters after holding a review meeting of the work being done in South and North Dinajpur districts.

Speaking on the progress achieved in the two districts, Banerjee said electrification target of all households had been completed and four universities and 45 new colleges were set up.

However, development work in these two districts, was less compared to other districts.

The state government, she said, had plans to set up 7 medical colleges in the state.

Banerjee said 96 subjects concerning the two districts were discussed at the review meeting.
