Mamata Banerjee released her poll manifesto in five languages, hopes Singur farmers will get back their land.
West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday released her election manifesto in five languages, including Bengali and Hindi, and expressed hope that Singur farmers will get back their land once the legal battle...

Curiously, the other three languages are Urdu, Alchiki and English. Banerjee is believed to have released the manifesto in Urdu – no other party did -- with Muslim voters in mind. Trinamool has also sought to woo the tribals in Jangalmahal and released the manifesto in Alchiki, a language used by the Santhals and other tribes in Jangalmahal.
Sensing that CPIM is trying hard to wrest the Singur assembly seat from them by raising the land return issue, the CM said, "I hope that these farmers would get back their land once the legal battle over Singur land acquisition is over."
Releasing the manifesto, Banerjee claimed that her government worked more for the development of Bengal instead of holding out promises. "We made little promise, but worked extensively for the development of Bengal. Our development activities will continue despite the elections in the state,” she said.
