A team of at least 100 people including bureaucrats, media persons, musicians and MP s would accompany Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee in her maiden trip to London.

KOLKATA: A team of at least 100 people including bureaucrats, media persons, musicians and MP s would accompany Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee in her maiden trip to London. Banerjee would be going on a five day trip to London tomorrow. According to the government sources, there are least 30 MoUs lined up in the different sectors including education, tourism, heath and infrastructure. Bengal government is likely to have some exchange programme for cops too, added sources.

The higher education sector in Bengal would witness three of the significant MoUs signed in London. “In the field of higher education sector, as I am informed, at least three MoU s would be signed. The agreements would be signed between the Presidency University and British Higher Education Institutions. There is a proposal of having a partnership signed between the University of Cambridge and the Presidency University,” said a noted academician and TMC MP, Professor Sugata Bose. Bose would be there in London with the chief minister.

On Friday, Banerjee held a meeting with the industrialists and the bureaucrats who would be accompanying her. At least 40 persons in the delegation are business leaders from West Bengal and rest of the country including ITC chairman Y C Deveshwar, Sumit Majumdar president of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Sanjay Budhia managing director of Patton Group, Anirudh Dhoot, director of Videocon and Sangita Reddy joint managing director Apollo hospitals.

Apart from the industrialists, state Finance and Industries Minister Amit Mitra, Mayor of Kolkata Sovon Chaterjee, Kolkata Police Commissioner Surajit Purkayashta, Managing director of West Bengal industrial Development Corporation, Krishna Gupta would be a part of the official delegation of Bengal chief minister.
