Mamata Banerjee mocks Adhir Chowdhury's style of protest
KOLKATA: Asserting that her government would not allow any bandh or shutdown, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today mocked the manner of protest by state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury, who took off his shirt.

"We will not allow any bandh or shutdown. Some people just to get into print and for TV channel footage are taking off their shirts. But one should understand that what suits Sourav Ganguly doesn't suit others," she said.

"By doing such tricks you can get into print for only one or two days," Banerjee said.

Bandh supporters clashed with the police in front of the land reforms office in Baharampore.

An agitated Chowdhury took off his shirt and alleged that although Congress workers were observing the bandh peacefully they were beaten up by the police.

"Even women were not spared," he said.
