The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and his Bangladesh counterpart in India Syed Muazzem Ali were also present.

KOLKATA: Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today exchanged pleasantries at a dinner hosted by state Governor K N Tripathi here.

Banerjee gave gifts to Hamid and exchanged pleasantries. Banerjee was accompanied by her cabinet colleagues - Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee, Tourism Minister Bratya Basu and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim.

The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and his Bangladesh counterpart in India Syed Muazzem Ali were also present.

Hamid arrived here today on a two-day visit to West Bengal.

Hamid will visit Santiniketan tomorrow and come back to Kolkata the same day before flying back to Dhaka.

The Bangladesh President had arrived in Delhi on December 18 on a six-day official visit during which he held talks with the Indian leadership with an aim to further strengthen the close bilateral ties between the two countries.
