"Our next aim is to get the name of the state changed," she said at the state secretariat Nabanna.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee launched a logo of West Bengal government on Friday. The logo with Ashok Pillars on it highlights Bengal's Biswa Bangla theme and it is designed by Mamata Banerjee. The state government received the approval for the logo from centre on Wednesday.

"This is a historic day for the state. Several states have their own logo, some do not have. In last seventy years, nobody from Bengal took initiative to get our own logo. After we noticed it, we designed one and sent this to the centre for approval. Earlier we also sent a proposal for the name change. Finally, we got the approval for the logo, though the name -change proposal is still pending,"" said Banerjee unveiling the logo.

The logo will be used in all government works, projects and schemes, added the chief minister. "Our next aim is to get the name of the state changed," she said at the state secretariat Nabanna.

Significantly, Bengal's Biswa Bangla logo triggered controversy after Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee applied for a patent for the logo. BJP leader Mukul Roy alleged that the logo is being used for private interest and not as a government one.
