Mamata Banerjee launches attack on Narendra Modi-led government, accuses it of engineering riots
KOLKATA: Attacking the BJP for hatching a political conspiracy against her government and party by using central agencies like the CBI and NIA, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has accused her former ally of engineering riots. “Ever since this government (BJP-led NDA government at the Centre) came to power, riots are happening everywhere – UP, Maharashtra and even in Delhi, and the Centre does not care for people. They only care about riots,” Banerjee said on Monday.

The CM has been under increased pressure due to the ongoing CBI probe into the Saradha chit fund scam, with the arrest of two of her party’s MPs in connection with it and summons to one of her key ministers, Madan Mitra.

Mamata launched a counterattack on the Modi government, calling the PM “selfie danga (riots) guru” but without naming him. “We do not require certificates from people whose hands are stained with blood of riots. Danga gurus have become dharma gurus these days. I have always fought for the people and I will continue to do so. True leaders are those who do not allow divisive politics. I know political courtesies. I have always visited Atal Ji, Jyoti Basu. Those in power today do not deserve it,” she said.
