West Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose enquired about the health of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after her helicopter made an emergency landing at Sevoke Airbase.
"Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose is relieved to know that Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is safe after the emergency landing of her helicopter today. Dr. Bose enquired about her safety and well-being," Bose tweeted.
“West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's helicopter made an emergency landing at Sevoke Airbase due to low visibility,” administration sources said. She was on her way to Bagdogra after addressing a public rally at Kranti in Jalpaiguri district, when the chopper had to make an emergency landing.
“It was raining heavily and the sky was overcast with dark clouds. So, the pilot decided to turn around and landed in Sevoke airbase,” people in the know said. Banerjee received injury in her knees and back while getting down from the helicopter.
After landing at Kolkata airport, Banerjee went directly to state-run SSKM hospital. She will undergo certain medical tests as she is facing trouble in walking. She is undergoing tests in the hospital at the moment.
An ambulance was kept ready in the airport premises. However, she chose to travel in her car to the hospital.
“Hon’ble Chief Minister is fine. While getting down from the helicopter, she received injuries. She is being treated by the doctors,” Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay, who visited the hospital, said.
