Mamata Banerjee eyeing Bangladeshi vote to win 2019 general elections: BJP

BJP MP Ram Prasad Sharma Mamta was vehemently opposing the move as he want to win the general vote on Bangladesh vote.

GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was opposing the updation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) 1951 in Assam as she wants to keep her vote bank of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants intact to win 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Banerjee, while addressing a rally had said that the BJP-led central government was "hatching a conspiracy" to drive out Bengalis from Assam by excluding their names from the first draft of NRC.

BJP MP Ram Prasad Sharma Mamta was vehemently opposing the move as he want to win the general vote on Bangladesh vote.


“Didi wants to win 2019 elections on the Bangladeshi vote. She is saying all these to keep her Bangladeshi vote bank intact,” he said.

The first draft of Supreme Court monitored NRC which contains names of 1.9 crore Indian citizens living in Assam was published at stroke of Sunday midnight with several residents of Assam not finding their names i the registry.

The remaining 1.39 crore cases continue to remain under various stages of verification.
