Mamata Banerjee blames traffic cop for seizing licence of mayor's niece

KOLKATA: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today blamed the traffic police constable on duty for Friday night's incident in which the license of the city mayor's niece was seized saying she was "only a little girl".

She told the Assembly that the mayor's niece was a little girl and that there was a huge furore in the state about the incident.

"Why was the girl's driving license seized by the police?" the chief minister wanted to know and said that let there be a probe and law would take its own course.

She said that these things were happening which were being witnessed everyday owing to a few policemen.

Everybody needs counselling and hope things would get resolved, she said.
