While the anti-Gogoi camp is seeking a Congress legislature party meeting in the presence of the central observer, the pro-Gogoi camp is opposed to this.

The dissident camp is upbeat with Kharge’s visit A senior leader in AICC told ET, “Kharge would meet all Congress MLAs in Guwahati to take their opinions during his three-day visit. He would than prepare a report and present the same to the party high command.”

However no decision on the leadership issue is expected before July 6, as Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is expected to meet chief minister and APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita, along with MPs of the state, the leader added. Rahul’s meeting slated for May 23 was cancelled. Officially PCC has stated that Kharge’s visit was to deal the recent railway fare hike
