COLOMBO: Male, capital of Maldives will host the 16th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit, it was announced here today.
During the deliberations of the 15th SAARC summit, which concluded here today, Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom offered to host the next meeting of the Heads of State or Government of the eight member grouping.
The offer was unanimously welcomed and accepted, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the current chairman of SAARC, said in his closing remarks.
