'Make in India week' to be the crux of WEF programs: Devendra Fadnavis

MUMBAI: Stating that the world has now started to recognise India as a trusted investment destination, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said the ' Make in India' week will be the crux of various programmes conducted by the World Economic Forum.

The 'Make in India' week will be jointly organised by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion ( DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Maharashtra government in Mumbai from February 13-18.

"What is India's true strength? Modiji has given a call to the world to come and invest in India. And the 'Make in India' week that is being organised for the first time in the city is a part of Modiji's vision," Fadnavis said while addressing a gathering here at the government guest house 'Sahyadri' here.

"Though Mumbai is known to be one of the international cities of the world, most of the iconic programmes of the World Economic Forum are held at places like Davos and Hanover.

"The programme which will be held here under the theme of innovation, design and sustainability will be the crux of all the WEF programmes," he said.

Fadnavis said that economies of countries like China and Japan are not in a very good shape, so the world recognises India as a trusted investment destination.

He further said that delegates and political heads representing various countries will take part in the event.

"This is like a festival for us and we have to celebrate it. Unless all the stakeholders come together and work, we will not get the desired results," he said.

"We can become the manufacturing hub of the world. Through this programme, we are inviting the world to join us and be a part of India's growth story," Fadnavis said.
