Major fire in south Delhi; no casualty reported

NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out today at a warehouse of a courier company at Kapashera area in south-west Delhi, though no casualty has been reported in the incident.

The incident took place this morning and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot within two hours of it to douse the flames, Fire Department officials said.

"We received call about fire at the warehouse at 11.30 am and immediately five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The area was cordoned off and people nearby the godown were evacuated," the Fire Department official said.

Officials from different agencies including the municipal corporations, civil defence, police as well as SDM Kapashera reached the spot and supervised the fire-fighting exercise.

Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the fire. The extent of loss was also not immediately known, however, no one was injured in the incident, a police officer said.
