Mahua Moitra, currently in news over the cash-for-query matter, has been assigned the responsibility of strengthening TMC in West Bengal's Nadia district in the run-up to the 2024 general elections.

The Trinamool Congress MP currently faces expulsion recommendations from Lok Sabha due to the said controversy.

The party recently announced a revised list of district presidents for the state's 35 organizational districts.

Moitra, who previously served as the district president in Krishnanagar before being removed in a previous reshuffle, has now been reinstated as the district president of Krishnanagar (Nadia North) organizational district. Moitra expressed her gratitude on social media, stating that she will continue to work for the people of Krishnanagar.

Regarding the cash-for-query allegation, the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, led by Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar, submitted a report recommending Moitra's expulsion to Speaker Om Birla's office. The majority of the Committee adopted the report, accusing Moitra of accepting "illegal gratifications" to raise questions in Parliament on behalf of businessman Darshan Hiranandani. Moitra dismissed the decision as a "prefixed match by a kangaroo court" and criticized it as a "death of parliamentary democracy."

The party also made leadership changes in other districts, including Birbhum, where president Anubrata Mondal, currently in CBI custody for an alleged cattle smuggling scam, did not make the list. A core committee has been assigned the charge of the district.

In Murshidabad – Beharampur organizational district, president Abu Taher Khan was replaced by MLA Apurba Sarkar, and in the adjoining Murshidabad–Jangipur, former state minister Jakir Hossain was appointed as district chairman. The minority-dominated Murshidabad district, traditionally a Congress stronghold, has witnessed significant TMC inroads in recent years.

In Bankura district, former MLA Arup Chakraborty has taken over as district president. He replaced Dibyendu Singha Ray.
