Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi was detained in Mumbai ahead of a planned protest in solidarity with the CJP’s demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi.
An official confirmed that Tushar Gandhi, head of the organization ‘Hum Bharat Ke Log’ and Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson, was taken into custody from Bandra and moved to the DN Nagar police station.

Officials noted that fellow activist Feeroz Mithiborwala was similarly detained at his home and transported to the MIDC police station.
These preventive detentions occurred prior to the planned rally, which was staged in support of the CJP's mobilization at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in the voting process.
Lack of approval cited by Mumbai police
Addressing the scheduled gathering, Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police Ragasudha R said no application seeking permission for the event had been submitted to Gamdevi police station and no official approval had been granted.

CJP demonstration focuses on CEC Gyanesh Kumar
The CJP's demonstration at Jantar Mantar targets Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding claims of voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, as well as modifications connected to Form 6, the application used for voter registration.
To prevent the CJP's planned assembly at Jantar Mantar, Delhi Police stepped up preventive operations throughout the capital, detaining over 1,500 individuals across various locations.
