Maharashtra sets up special court to dispose Sebi cases

Maharashtra has set up a special court for speedy disposal of prosecution cases filed by SEBI.


MUMBAI: Maharashtra has set up a special court for speedy disposal of prosecution cases filed by SEBI.

The market regulator had requested the state government to set up the special court considering the long pending cases filed by it in various courts in Mumbai.

The special court, inaugurated today by Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Justice K R Vyas, is set up at the new building of Kurla Court, sources informed media here.

The court will deal with around 450 cases pending with the various courts in Mumbai.

A similar special court has already been set up in Delhi.

Cases for prosecutions filed by SEBI involve violations of various provisions of the SEBI Act, Rules and Regulations framed there under.
