Maharashtra seeks Rs 7962.63 crore drought assistance from central govt

State Government has given a proposal of Rs 7962.63crore to GoI and a central team is already on visit to Maharashtra.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted that he has expressed concerns over severity of the drought and sought early assistance.
PUNE: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis met Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister,Nripendra Misra this morning in New Delhi to discuss various issues regarding drought assistance to Maharashtra.

State Government has given a proposal of Rs 7962.63crore to GoI and a central team is already on visit to Maharashtra.

The CM tweeted that he has expressed concerns over severity of the drought and sought early assistance. Principal Secretary in PMO, Nripendra Misra assured for early procedures and subsequently required decision making.


He also demanded that additional target of 6 lakh houses be allotted to Maharashtra under PMAY rural as State government has provided upto Rs 50,000 for land purchase of upto 500 sq.ft and also made available land for PMAY beneficiaries.

He requested for early finalisation of draft CRZ notification, finalisation of economic-sensitive zones of Tungareshwar, Thane and Great Indian Bustard wildlife sanctuary, Solapur.

Fadanvis also requested for use of e-vehicles in Tiger safaris to promote eco-tourism in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve to carry more number of passenger.

This will help reduce man-animal conflicts and also boost tourism promotion.

Other issues discussed were railway land requirement for Dharavi redevelopment project, Jalgaon Municipal Corporation HUDCO loan and other issues.
