Congress is set to retain its hold over the Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporation counting for which is underway.

According to latest reports, Congress has won 15 seats out of the 16 seats for which results have been announced. It is leading in 33 seats in the 81-seat body. Its nearest rival the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won one seat and is ahead in four seats.

The Shiv Sena is leading in two seats and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is leading in one.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) failed to secure any leads.

The voting, which took place on Wednesday, saw a 60 per cent turnout.

The Congress party had won 41 seats in the last elections with the BJP getting just two seats.
