Maharashtra polls: BJP’s demands would have wiped out Shiv Sena, says Uddhav Thackeray
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said had he agreed to the BJP's demands, the saffron alliance in the state would have been saved but his party wiped out.

Taking a dig at Ajit Pawar's remark of urinating in dams, the Sena chief said he would support him as the CM candidate if someone would dare to drink a glass of water at his home.

At his last campaign in the city before the polls, Uddhav attempted at an emotional connect with the crowd, invoking the last speech the late Balasaheb Thackeray had given at the Shivaji Park ground two years ago. "Balasaheb asked you to take care of me and Aditya. You are my strength and I bow down before you. Get up and be ready to complete Balasaheb's dream," Uddhav said.

Slamming the BJP, he said he had not broken the alliance. "Will you give power to a party which would divide Maharashtra?" he said. "We will not let Maharashtra gbe divided but we will get the Karnataka-occupied portion of Maharashtra." Referring to the PM's Borivli rally but without naming him, Uddhav said the crowd was brought in from Gujarat.

It was a special day for Aditya, who gave his first public speech in his father's presence.

The Sena chief launched an attack on former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, calling him the captain of a sinking ship. "If he claims to be Mr Clean, then he should have acted in a soap advertisement," he lampooned. He also took a potshot at R R Patil over his controversial rape remark.
